April: “The brief sun…”

This month, the Members Area offers a last opportunity to book for The Waste Land City Walk, a professionally-guided tour of the main churches and key City locations mentioned in The Waste Land. This is an exclusive, Society members-only event on April 21st, at a specially subsidised price of just £5. Tickets sold quickly after the initial announcement; there are a few remaining, but please do book now if you would like to come.

Members can also see a letter from TS Eliot which is being offered for sale; and there is another request for assistance, this time concerning the poet’s letters to his sister, Ada. All in the Members Area.

In News, there is a link to a major Times Literary Supplement review of the annotated Poems, and also to some additional reviews of the Letters Vol 6. And there’s an intriguing use of Eliot’s words to publicise a Secret Cinema event…

April’s main event, announced on the Events page in February, will be the TS Eliot Memorial Reading under the auspices of the Royal Society of Literature. The Reading will be at the LSE in London on April 18th. Freshly announced in Events this month is a series of readings of The Waste Land in Hampshire libraries.

If you don’t already, do follow us on Twitter @TSEliotSocUK, where many events are first announced – and you can enjoy entertaining exchanges like this one: https://twitter.com/TSEliotSocUK/status/716676838752436226

And finally, the line-up for this year’s TS Eliot Festival at Little Gidding on July 9th and 10th is about to be announced. Make sure the date is in your diary, and do watch the Members Area for privileged member booking details.

Fare forward!
